Today, May 20, we celebrate Embroidery Day! This holiday was started in 2006 by a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. Today is dedicated to Ukrainian traditional music and environmental issues.

Vyshivanka is one of the main elements of Ukrainian national clothing. Patterns on shirts and embroidered dresses were talismans, reflecting traditions and values. The combination of colors that were specific to a certain region of Ukraine was important.

The deportation of the Crimean Tatars began at 03:00 on May 18, 1944 and lasted until the beginning of June. It was carried out in the line with the secret decree of the State Defense Committee No. 5859 “On Crimean Tatars” of May 11, 1944, where the Crimean Tatars were accused of allegedly betrayal and collaboration with Nazis during the occupation of Crimea by Hitler’s troops.

Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Over the past 15 years, the global community has made a lot of effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science. Yet women and girls continue to be excluded from participating fully in science.

With a theme once again of “Together for a better internet”, this day calls upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, and especially for children and young people.

Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 170 countries worldwide.

The event involved: classical singer, a volunteer, a teacher of singing Children’s art school № 6 Elena Moskalets and students of Kharkiv University of Arts, winners of contests nationwide Ivaniuta Anastasia (Bandura) and Vitaliy Borysenko (accordion).
