The Department of Ukrainian Studies was founded on the basis of the Faculty of Computer Sciences 1993 for teaching social and humanitarian disciplines. Since February 2012 till august 2020, the department was a part of the Faculty of Foreign Students Training. In september 2020 the department is joined the faculty of computer engineering and control. The head of the department is Associate Professor Tsyhanenko Viktoriia Leonidivna.
The department teaches the normative and selective disciplines of the philological, historical and culturological direction for preparation of students and postgraduates of all specialties.
Disciplines form students’ interest in historical, linguistic knowledge, instill a humanistic approach to solving professional and personal problems, and learn the rules of linguistic etiquette within the framework of professional communication.

On the basis of the department from 2011 annual inter-university student scientific and practical conferences, round tables dedicated to outstanding cultural and scientific figures, memorable dates are held. Since 2013 the department participates in the work of the annual International Youth Forum “Radio Electronics and Youth in the 21st Century”, which takes place on the basis of KhNURE.
Under the guidance of the faculty, students take part annually in olympiads, international, all-Ukrainian, inter-university and university-wide scientific conferences, the International competition of Ukrainian language named after P. Yatsyk, International Literary Contest of Students Youth named after. T. Shevchenko.
