Today, May 20, we celebrate Embroidery Day! This holiday was started in 2006 by a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. Today is dedicated to Ukrainian traditional music and environmental issues.
Vyshivanka is one of the main elements of Ukrainian national clothing. Patterns on shirts and embroidered dresses were talismans, reflecting traditions and values. The combination of colors that were specific to a certain region of Ukraine was important.
