Today, May 20, we celebrate Embroidery Day! This holiday was started in 2006 by a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. Today is dedicated to Ukrainian traditional music and environmental issues. Vyshivanka is one of the main elements of Ukrainian national clothing. Patterns on shirts and embroidered dresses were talismans, reflecting traditions and values. The combination of colors that were specific to a certain region of Ukraine was important. Let’s go in embroidered shirts every day!

The deportation of the Crimean Tatars began at 03:00 on May 18, 1944 and lasted until the beginning of June. It was carried out in the line with the secret decree of the State Defense Committee No. 5859 “On Crimean Tatars” of May 11, 1944, where the Crimean Tatars were accused of allegedly betrayal and collaboration with Nazis during the occupation of Crimea by Hitler’s troops.

Officially, 183,144 Crimean Tatars were deported from Crimea; according to Tatar sources, the number reached 228,500 and during the first year, 110,000 of them died.

The Crimean Tatar people consistently called for the preservation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and opposed the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014, as well as did not recognize Russian occupation of Crimea. On May 16, 2014 President of Ukraine issued Decree which established May 18 as a Day of struggle for the rights of the Crimean Tatar.

Remember!

Today you can choose only one task, but it must be done at the highest level.

Why is it important to try to celebrate this day at least once? Nowadays, loading routines requires multitasking from each of us, but modern scientific research claims that concentrating on several tasks at the same time significantly reduces the efficiency of their implementation. This is because it takes some time for the brain to switch from one topic to another. Parallel execution of a large number of cases can lead not only to a decrease in productivity, but also to a mediocre result.

The recipe for quality improvement is simple – focus your efforts on one task, and when you complete it or at least get the desired intermediate result, move on to the next.

Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Over the past 15 years, the global community has made a lot of effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science. Yet women and girls continue to be excluded from participating fully in science.

Today, Tuesday, 9 February 2021, we celebrate the 18th edition of Safer Internet Day with actions taking place right across the globe. With a theme once again of “Together for a better internet”, this day calls upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, and especially for children and young people.

Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 170 countries worldwide.

From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns.

Let’s respect each other on the Internet!

Much of today’s activity will play out on social media. Be sure to check our Facebook and Twitter profiles, and join the conversation – and share your commitments for a better internet – using #SaferInternetDay and #SID2021.
